Help Test Practice Cat for Android
Practice Cat for Android is now in private beta. We’re looking for musicians to try it in real practice sessions before public launch.
If you’re someone who regularly practices from sheet music, interested in ways to make your practice sessions more effective, and comfortable trying an early version of a new app and giving practical feedback, then we’d like to hear from you.
You do not need to be a technology expert, and you do not need to write a formal report. A few honest sentences after trying the app would be very helpful.
How to join the beta
To join the Android beta, please send an email from the Google account you use with Google Play (usually a gmail address), to
Use the subject line: Practice Cat Android beta
We’ll add your Google account to the private Google Play closed test and reply with:
- a link to install the app from Google Play
- a short feedback form
After installing and trying the app, you can use the form or simply reply to our email.
What we’d like you to try
The most useful thing is to use Practice Cat as part of a real practice session.
In particular, we’d love to hear:
- how you found importing and organising your music
- whether adding sections and choosing practice techniques made sense
- whether it was easy to move from organising music into a practice session
- how the practice session workflow felt in real use
- anything that felt confusing, awkward, or unnecessary
- what would make Practice Cat more useful for you
Time commitment and devices
There is no fixed time commitment. You can try the app once, use it for a few practice sessions, or keep using it during the beta period.
The beta is currently available for Android only.
Practice Cat should work on any relatively modern Android device. A tablet with a reasonably sized screen is recommended, although it does work on a phone.
iOS is not supported yet.
Privacy and terms
Practice Cat takes a privacy-first approach. There are no ads, no tracking, and your practice data is not shared or sold.
Our Android privacy policy is here:
https://www.practicecat.com/en/legal/android/v1/privacy/
This privacy policy applies to beta testers. It may be updated before launch if the app or legal requirements change.
During the beta, we would appreciate it if you opt in to these settings when prompted by the app:
- Share crash reports
- Share basic usage metrics
These anonymous crash reports and usage statistics help us understand how the app is performing and identify problems more quickly. You can still test the app without opting in.
Please do not include sensitive personal information in feedback emails or survey responses.
Our Terms of Service are here:
https://www.practicecat.com/en/legal/android/v1/terms-of-service/
When testing Practice Cat, please only import sheet music or other materials that you have the right to use.
How we use your email address
We will use your email address only to:
- add you to the Practice Cat closed test in Google Play
- send you the beta invitation link
- manage beta-related communication
- discuss your feedback, if you have said that this is OK
We will not add you to any marketing mailing list unless you separately opt in.
After the beta, and before public launch, we plan to delete beta signup emails and feedback form responses, except where we need to keep something to handle an outstanding issue or legal obligation.
Free and PRO features during the beta
Practice Cat has a freemium model. The free version lets you import a limited number of pages, while PRO allows you to grow your repertoire over time.
During the beta, the app may still show the normal free limit and PRO upgrade prompts. This helps us test whether the free/PRO experience is clear and works as expected.
Beta testers are not expected to pay in order to test the app. If you reach the page limit and would like to keep adding music during the beta, please contact us at beta@practicecat.com and we’ll arrange temporary PRO access for the duration of the beta.
Any temporary PRO access is for beta testing only and may end when the beta finishes.
Thank you
Thank you for considering the Practice Cat beta.
We appreciate your time, your musical experience, and your help improving the app.
